Maureen Mouritsen Polette, our beloved daughter, sister, friend, and ``favorite Aunt Rene'' to 24 nephews and 19 nieces, died Friday April 27, 1990, in a tragic light plane crash near Leadville, Colorado, enroute to a regional competition of the Sweet Adelines in Colorado Springs.
She was born June 24, 1955 in Logan, Cache County, Utah, to Glendale and Jean Brockbank Mouritsen, and lived until ten years of age in Lewiston, Utah, where she attended elementary school. In 1965, the family moved to Salt Lake City. She graduated from Olympus High School in 1973, and attended Brigham Young University. She served an LDS Mission in the Iowa, Des Moines Mission from 1977-78. She married Keith Polette of St. Louis, Missouri, in 1986, and lived in Cottleville, Missouri for several years. They were later divorced. She was employed at Hart Brothers Music for many years and worked for Zions First National Bank as a teller for the past eight months. An active member of the LDS Church, she assisted with Ward and Relief Society publicity, and taught the Star A Class in Primary which she loved very much. She was an enthusiastic member of the Mountain Jubilee Chorus, The Utah Chapter of the Sweet Adelines, and loved her participation in music.
