Kent Sorensen

Kent Joseph Sorensen 1955 ~ 2007 Our loving husband, father, and grandfather, Kent Joseph Sorensen peacefully returned to his Heavenly Father March 26, 2007 surrounded by his family at home. His life was led by his trust in the Savior Jesus Christ and his desire to serve Him. Nothing in his life was done without expressing gratitude. He lived and loved to the fullest, often saying "I am certain that I wouldn't trade my life with any man." He packed more into his 52 years than most people can do in 90. Born April 2, 1955 to Maynard and Nonie Sorensen in Salt Lake City, Utah, he graduated from Olympus High School and the University of Utah. He was an Eagle Scout and served as a missionary in Columbia, South America. With his beautiful singing voice and guitar he won the love of his life and married Julie Swensen on March 21, 1979. Together they have four children and one grandchild whom he adored. His greatest happiness was spending time with his children and teaching them the gospel. He was grateful for his work and associates at Peterson Development. He dedicated his time to serving in the Church and had a special love for the youth. He touched countless lives as a bishop and in the many other callings that he fulfilled. He is survived by his wife, Julie; children, Lindsay (Eric) Richards, Benjamin (Kimley), Samuel, Nathan, and granddaughter Abby Jane Richards. He is also survived by his parents and 10 siblings and their spouses. Services will be held Thursday, March 29 at noon at the Salt Lake East Millcreek Stake Center, 3103 Craig Dr. (3600 S). Friends and family may call at the Stake Center, Wednesday, March 28 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Thursday prior to the service from 10:30-11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Missionary Fund.
